A new year of learning means new opportunities to inspire your students. And what better way than by tackling one of the most pressing issues of our time, climate change? ๐
Food is at the heart of this challenge: it shapes our environment, societies, and economies. By exploring food systems, students donโt just learn whatโs on their plate, but they learn about their role as citizens in creating a sustainable future.

Thatโs why, over the past two years, TheFood Odyssey Project (co-funded by Erasmus+), has developed, with schools, NGOs, and organisations across Italy, Slovenia, Spain, and Serbia, a set of free, innovative tools to help you bring these crucial topics into your classrooms using game-based learning, storytelling, and interactive learning.
Hereโs your learning journey for the new school year:
1๏ธโฃ Step 1 - Take our online course!
๐ฅ The Food Odyssey Training Course explores the big picture of food and climate - and you can either follow the full learning journey or simply pick your favourite subject to explore.
The videos are organised into 4 lesson modules, each combining theory, real-world examples, and classroom-ready tools:
- Anthropocene ๐ โ humanityโs impact on the planet and the new era we live in.
- Food Systems ๐ โ food as perpetrator, victim, and solution in the climate crisis.

4๏ธโฃ Step 4 - Share your experience!
๐ฌ Your feedback is precious. We believe in innovation in school education and want to continue improving these tools in the next projects. Share your experience with us and help shape our next steps by writing to us on our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin). Your input will help us make learning about food, sustainability, and climate change even more impactful for teachers and students everywhere.
Climate change is not a future problem: itโs a reality your students are already living in. By approaching it through food, you can help them connect the dots between daily life and global challenges, while keeping learning engaging and fun.
We therefore hope these tools help make your teaching journey both inspiring and impactful.
Happy teaching and have a nice year ahead!
