Objectives
The main objective of the project is to modernise chemistry education in higher education by:
Integrating the European GreenComp sustainability competence framework into chemistry curricula;
Developing a shared and quality-assured sustainability competence model for chemistry;
Strengthening competence-based teaching and assessment practices;
Enhancing digital teaching and assessment capacities;
Increasing alignment between higher education and the needs of the green transition and labour market.
Main Activities
The project will:
Develop a GreenComp-aligned sustainability competence framework tailored to chemistry.
Design and pilot modular curriculum components and “signature learning tasks” (challenge-based and laboratory-based).
Implement digitally supported teaching and assessment tools (e.g. e-portfolios, shared assessment rubrics).
Deliver continuous professional development (CPD) for academic staff.
Disseminate results and promote institutional embedding and alignment with quality assurance and accreditation structures (in cooperation with ECTN).
Expected Outcomes
A validated European sustainability competence framework for chemistry.
Newly developed or modernised curriculum modules in partner institutions.
Open-access digital learning and assessment resources.
Strengthened sustainability and digital competences of academic staff.
Sustainable institutional integration of GreenComp-aligned competences.
Reinforced role of chemistry as a key discipline supporting the green transition in Europe.
