On Monday 15 September, the Youth Climate LAB kicked off with the first session introducing the topic of this edition: "How to integrate traditional ecological knowledge into learning communities".

To support us in this first meeting, Angela Pereira Guimares shared insights on existing policy frameworks on indigenous knowledge and the Arctic project, a project run by the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. Please listen to her presentation:

Following the presentation,  we brainstormed about this topic divided into three discussion rounds, focusing on challenges and opportunities to integrate traditional ecological knowledge into learning communities and involvement of youth in the process.

Do not hesitate to ask questions to the participants in the comment section below as replies to their main takeaways.

As I joined the call late yesterday, I didn't really understand what was going on. So, today, now that I've watched the video from the beginning, I understood the topic very well and I'm intrigued to learn even more on the subject. Thank you miss Angela for your enlightening presentation! It was very interesting to see how much colonization has played its role in our everyday lives, even without us realising it and how we can combat it in the field of epistemology as you mentioned. Yes, the difficulties are there, but I'm optimistic and i think we will create a system that respects us all. Thanks again! You opened our minds a little more.
