The Account4GreenEco Sustainability Accounting Learning Platform is an innovative digital resource designed to transform how sustainability accounting is taught and learned. This platform has been produced as one of the key results of the Erasmus+ Project "Sustainability Accounting Learning Platform for a Green Economy” (Account4GreenEco) is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union (Ref. 2022-1-ES01-KA220-HED-000089844).
By combining interactive content with innovative pedagogical approaches, it ensures that learners not only acquire knowledge but also develop the skills to apply it in real‑world contexts.

The platform is organized into three modules, each containing two units, offering a clear and coherent structure that guides learners step by step through the foundations of sustainability accounting. This modular design makes the course accessible for beginners while still providing meaningful insights for those already engaged in sustainability or accounting studies.
Gamification
At the heart of the platform lies gamification, the integration of game elements into education. Instead of relying solely on lectures or static materials, the platform uses interactive challenges, scoring systems, and playful activities to keep learners motivated. Short videos, micro‑learning content, and 16 different types of interactive exercises ensure that students remain engaged and entertained while mastering complex concepts.
Gamification transforms learning into an immersive experience. By earning points, completing challenges, and progressing through content structured like a streaming service—where each unit is a “series,” each section a “season,” and each activity a “chapter”—students feel a sense of accomplishment and momentum. This design maximizes retention and encourages persistence, making sustainability accounting not just informative but enjoyable.
Role Play Learning Scenarios
One of the platform’s most distinctive features is the role‑play learning scenarios embedded in every unit. These scenarios place students in realistic situations where they must make decisions, just as sustainability professionals do in practice. For example, learners may be asked to decide how a company should disclose its environmental impact, or how to measure social change in a stakeholder community.
Each choice leads to different outcomes, allowing students to see how their decisions shape organizational strategies, stakeholder trust, and sustainability transformations. This experiential learning method bridges theory and practice, helping them internalize the consequences of accounting choices. By “living” through these cases, students gain confidence in their ability to act as agents of change in the transition to a green economy.
