The Education for Climate Community Design Journey
We believe that education can change routine behaviours that damage our planet.
This is why we started the Education for Climate coalition. The coalition aims to highlight the key role that people in learning environments play to reach a climate-neutral society.
To connect and empower them to act on their education for climate initiatives, we need a working and evolving education for climate community.
A community that is led by teachers and students with their schools and networks and other educational actors.
So we set out to co-create this community with you.
Here is our story in a nutshell.
Launch of the coalition
We launched the Education for Climate coalition in December 2020.
Then we invited the education community across the EU to support the work of the coalition. We asked students, teachers and education stakeholders to complete a survey.
The 576 contributions to the survey told us that there are a lot of people who are committed to solve the climate emergency. It also told us who those people are, what they do, and where to start our community from.
Your community - co-creation from the start
From January to May 2021, we met students, teachers and education stakeholders in focus groups and workshops. 80 core group ambassadors shared with us their stories, experiences, challenges and education dreams.
We discussed the prototype for concrete actions and aligned on
- shared long-term goals
- community interactivity and content
- participatory community challenges
The community is calling!
We want to inspire, develop and draw on innovative European education capabilites to support the changes needed for a climate-neutral society.
As a community, we aspire to decide collectively, act collaboratively and adapt sustainably.
To make this community work, we need your ideas, expertise and motivation to co-create a community that makes sense first and foremost for you, the education community.
The community is you - join our workshops
From July to October 2021 we invite you to a series of community-driven workshops.
We created an online form, so you can
