Teaching Circle #1

Trine Larsen

How do YOU teach sustainability? Share what works and develop a resource with fellow educators.

Join other community members, teachers and educators to share approaches, learn from one another and choose an idea to develop together.

The Education for Climate Teaching Circles connect peer learning with the joint creation of resources that educators can use and adapt. Across three online meetings (three circles), groups will form groups and choose an idea in November, begin developing it in January and present their completed work in April.

In this first circle, you will:

  • Hear two brief examples of sustainability teaching shared by participants.
  • Form a group primarily based on the age range you teach, with flexibility for different educational settings.
  • Share experiences and agree on one specific idea to develop together.
  • Choose your group’s output: 1) a sustainability activity or learning scenario adaptable across subjects, or 2) a collection of best practices with practical instructions and lessons learned.
  • Appoint a group coordinator to support collaboration and keep track of contributions.

You will leave with a shared idea, a group to develop it with and a clear understanding of the next steps. Before the second circle, you are encouraged to gather relevant examples, experiences and materials. Dedicated templates will be introduced in January.

Teachers and educators from different subjects and educational settings are welcome. Come ready to exchange experiences and take an active part in group discussions. Attending all three circles and contributing between sessions is encouraged, but you may join individual meetings.

Following review and any necessary adjustments, completed group outputs will be professionally designed and published by Education for Climate. Author credits will reflect actual contributions, rather than attendance. No certificates or badges will be issued.

Enrol in all 3 circles to share your best teaching experience and help shape a practical resource for sustainability education:

We look forward to learn & create with you!
