Looking for Local Facilitators

We are pleased to announce that we have now opened the call for local facilitators!

Role

Local facilitators are volunteers who guide and energise the Local Community Spaces. They act as ambassadors of the Coalition, demonstrating how community members can participate. Among their responsibilities, there is:

• Welcome new members into their local community spaces to make sure they are aware of where to find relevant information and which ongoing activities are being hosted.
• Support the Secretariat in ensuring that the community etiquette is following in the local community spaces, while supporting peer exchanges. 
• Keep local community members informed about key messages, outcomes and follow-up actions related to meetings, challenges, discussion topics, upcoming activities and events. 
• By taking turns, participate in community events whenever possible, with special attention to the cafés and community leadership meetings. 

To facilitate the coordination with the Education for Climate Secretariat, one "main local facilitator" will take the lead in organising the coordinator group and the local community spaces. Among their responsibilities, there is:

• Encourage participation of at least one local facilitator in community events. 
• Engage the local community space users in relevant activities, including the organisation of meetings and/or activities and participate in activities organised by community managers.

What are we looking for?

With this call, the Education for Climate Community is looking for new facilitators to moderate the 33 local community spaces. A maximum of six facilitators per group will be selected based on:

• Proficiency in both English and the local EU official language. In candidates apply for a local community space with more than on official language, they should be proficient in at least one. 
• Educational role and profession. To create a diverse group of local facilitators, each facilitator group should ideally include a teacher, student, researcher, educator, person representing governmental institutions and an education stakeholder from different institutions and education levels.
• Expertise and social media presence. Candidates will be evaluated based on their expertise and social media presence. Importance will be given to their links to educational institutions, engagement in sustainability and education initiatives.
• Ties with the country. Any candidate will need to be familiar with the local community space, meaning that they will need to live/or work in the EEA country which they are interested in facilitating. 
• Be member of the Education for Climate platform.
• Motivation and idea to eat an activity. Candidates will be asked to provide information on their motivation to ensure their interest in the role and the Coalition. Particular attention is given to their interest in mobilising communities, experience in organising events and facilitate discussions. Selection will be also based on the activity proposed in the submission, whose evaluation will pay attention to its link with the Coalition's focus areas.

What is it in for you?

The selected local facilitators will receive a sharable certificate, which is going to be issued every year in relation to youth coordinators' engagement. The main youth coordinator will receive a Additionally, they will be:

• Selected for dedicated Spotlights featuring in Bulletin Boards and in Newsletters. 
• Be considered as speakers and moderators of events, including our Education for Climate Day.
• May be invited to participate in an in-person meeting organised by the Education for Climate Secretariat in Brussels.
