The reason why I suggest to ask this question is that I believe the platform is not easy to use, it is slow, and way too many pop-ups appear. Content is hard to find and basic functionality that one would expect is missing.
What I deem are KPIs are looking pretty bad. What are your KPIs? Are you monitoring them? Does the anticipated evolution of the KPIs vs reality satisfy you? If not, one needs to stop and re-assess the implementation / design.
It is obviously custom-built, so I wonder how the design and implementation was handled... I am a rocket scientist, so have seen my fair share of systems built as attached (famous!) image.
If the resulting system does not match user expectations, re-query those. Imho quite a drastic re-design needs to be undertaken asap. In order to assess where what can be done, the user requirement document and the derived design specification for this platform would be useful to assess. Please share them.
Is it me or does the filtering on more than 1 criterion on the "discover members" page not work? When I combine "Dutch" with "SDG13" I get wrong results: people who do NOT have Dutch listed as a language. Such type of errors on a platform is unnecessary. Why was not an existing platform chosen? OK, obviously not Facebook (they are truly evil), but Slack for example?
OK, so the software is from www.getopensocial.com.
They ask good questions btw ( https://www.getopensocial.com/buying-guide/ ):
What are my community goals and audience?
What type of platform do I need?
What is the product and vendor viability?
Does the software offer the capabilities that I need?
How flexible is the community software?
Can the software be integrated with existing systems?
What kind of security does the vendor offer?
Is it within my budget?
What is on my software wishlist?
Dear Jim Volp
These are indeed topics we are working on. They are reasons and solutions for all this (new search coming very soon btw). What about a meeting soon to get your feedback in details and engage the conversation around our platform. We launched only 5 months ago and are always happy to continue including members in our work.
Allow me to come back to you after our 5 may event with some dates. Let's include Karl DONERT
in that meeting too. And all other member actually.
