PALOMERAS CULTURAL CENTRE SCHOOL MADRID
Spain’s first school based solar Energy Community.
Great news from Spain where the AURORA project working with the Palomeras Cultural Centre School Madrid and the Spanish Solar Co-operative Ecooo has started work installing solar panels and air source heat pumps on the schools buildings. After a successful share offer to the local community raised €140,000, work has begun on the renewable energy scheme that will displace fossil fuels, lower energy costs and provide cooling for the school during the summer heat waves. With Spain's weather service confirming that the "extremely hot" June - with an average temperature of 23.6C (74.5F) - "has pulverised records", surpassing the normal average for July and August, this improvement cannot come fast enough.
The AURORA project is demonstrating across Europe that our Schools and Universities can be part of energy communities that install renewable community energy, educate our next generation to lower their carbon emissions, take action to tackle the climate emergency through experiential learning and divert fossil fuel profits back into our communities.
SAVE CARBON SAVE MONEY - GET YOUR SCHOOL YOUR UNIVERSITY TO JOIN THE RENEWABLE ENERGY REVOLUTION.
More details on how it can be done will be provided on the AURORA website in September https://www.aurora-h2020.eu under the demonstration sites section.
