Join hundreds of  educators using our materials in their classes, clubs and events to promote knowledge and awareness about sustainable food systems.

FoodEducators is an EIT Food programme that provides teachers with fun, creative and interesting activities to engage young people, mainly schoolchildren. The easily accessible, science-based food education materials enhance students' learning so they can become better informed, conscious consumers of the future.

The programme is targeting EU-countries through national HUBs, offering easy to use (just download from our website and teach!) learning materials in 15 languages. Quality assurance of the materials is supported by the vast experience of EIT Food, food education experts on the team and by the multinational Teachers Advisory Board.

FoodEducators focuses on inspiring leadership, conscious consumerism, food science literacy, entrepreneurial mindsets, and vocational possibilities among young people aged 6 to 18 years old. Our lesson plans are based on activities that focus on active participation of students. They combine teamwork, role-playing, communication skills, experimentation and opportunities for student led discussions.

Dear KEREN DALYOT ,

Congratulations on such an interesting project!
I had the pleasure to read your full submission, including your survey, and it is an inspiring learning scenario. As explained in the call page and in the survey, I have now proceeded to curate your post to include all the relevant tags.
However, I believe that the community would benefit from learning more about your methodology, subjects involved in the project, and a more detailed explanation of the learning scenario.

Would you mind editing your blog post adding this information for the rest of the community?

*Our Themes*
The lesson plans on our website are arranged by 4 themes: Food & Health, Food & Sustainability, Food System & food Science, and Agrifood Careers and Jobs. These themes are not mutually exclusive, and often overlap, therefore several of the lesson plans might be relevant to more than one theme.
*Our Lesson Plans*
the lesson plans are all structured in a similar way with an introductory section that describes the target age group, specific educational objectives and connection with traditional school subjects, an overall agenda table with a pacing guide as well as a list of supporting materials, and a detailed slide-by-slide or step by step guide to the lesson.
Our lesson plans come with a wide range of supporting materials for classroom use - these can be a worksheet for students, presentation to show in class, teacher notes or all of them. It is up to you to decide how to use them with your students - print or digital (using google docs for example).
Each lesson plan is a coherent unit and can be used separately. However, you can also link lesson plans to each other, creating a series of food-related classes for your students (e.g. ideal for thematic weeks or longer projects). Suggested linkages also appear in the introductory section.
At the end of the detailed guide, each lesson plan has a set of additional background materials for preparation - links to podcasts, videos or relevant articles to enrich your understanding.
If you are interested in how our Lesson Plans are connected with Sustainable Development Goals listed by the United Nations and Key Competences for Lifelong Learning listed by the European Commission, download our infographic.
We have created these 2 short video if you want to learn more about our themes (https://youtube.com/watch?v=HARzAaIFrxY) , or our lesson plans (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bh5C351oSu4).
