The Sustainability Makers project is rooted in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations. Our objective is to promote sustainability values and raise global awareness by empowering individuals to internalize these values and implement them in their daily and professional lives.
We aim to support VET teachers and other education professionals in becoming 'Sustainability Makers.' Through their teaching, these educators can act as multiplier agents, amplifying the message of sustainability, fostering awareness, and encouraging daily debate through experimentation and innovation.
Our partnership of seven organizations created SustainabilityMakers.eu, an e-learning platform designed to provide the VET sector with an engaging online educational experience focused on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The platform aims to reach a wide audience, particularly students aged 16-25, and make a concrete impact in promoting sustainability education.
The platform includes an introductory module, 17 SDG-specific modules, and a final module for evaluating the learning process. Additionally, it offers direct access to a 2D game to enhance the learning experience.
Each of the 17 central modules is divided into 3 main sections: Know, Explore, Act.
‘Know’ introduces the topics related to the SDG selected and has the objective of providing deeper insight and knowledge to learners.
‘Explore’ is focused on action areas related to the SDG. It includes three different activities in which learners are the protagonists of their own learning process. Through research, learning by doing methodology, and engaging digital content, this section aims to connect theory to real life problems.
‘Act’ contains a Call to Action (one for each SDG) encouraging learners to develop some concrete actions to face the challenges that have been explored in the previous two sections. Moreover, the platform enables users to share the outcomes of the call to action with other learners.
Supported by the EU programme Erasmus+, Sustainability Makers promotes blended learning by adapting face-to-face activities and creating new digital content for online delivery, without losing the importance of teamwork, debating among peers and taking initiatives to act outside the class.
The platform offers a range of activities and resources, such as self-assessment, reading materials, short videos, interactive media, missions, gamification elements and peer evaluations that make learning more engaging.
SustainabilityMakers.eu, which is available in seven official EU languages, facilitates commitment and interaction between students and teachers, as well as other stakeholders involved in Vocational Education and Training.
