In a modest preschool nestled in Denizli, Türkiye, we dared to dream big for our planet. With limited financial resources, we turned to nature, creativity, and community. Our Erasmus+ project “Little Steps Big Future” is a powerful example of how climate education can begin with children—even in the smallest of schools.
Instead of expensive equipment, we reused and repurposed materials: old tires became garden beds, rain barrels were built from donated tanks, and compost stations were crafted from wooden scraps. These became the heartbeat of our permaculture garden and open-air classroom.
But what truly sets us apart is inclusion. Our learning spaces are carefully designed for children with autism and refugee backgrounds, ensuring that no one is left behind in our journey toward a greener tomorrow.
Through the Life Terra tree planting movement, GreenComp-aligned STEM activities, and teacher workshops, we empower young children to become little climate ambassadors. And this message is not staying local.
Thanks to our Erasmus+ KA210 partnership with Sweden, Italy, Spain, and Romania, our work is now being shared across Europe. Other preschools have already started to replicate our model—proof that transformation can begin anywhere, with anyone, using anything.
We may be a small school, but our impact grows with every seed planted, every raindrop saved, and every child inspired.
