In the Mediterranean region, we carried out a 6-month project with 12 young members of our association, culminating in the creation of a children’s theater play titled “The Story of the Caretta Caretta and the Fish Owl.
During the project, we did fieldworks focused on sea turtles. Based on our observations and data collected on site, we developed a children’s play centered around two species highly affected by climate change: the Caretta caretta and the Fish Owl.
We brought this play to thousands of children. One of its most powerful performances was held directly on the beach where the Caretta caretta turtles nest. This unique setting allowed children to engage directly with the topics of marine pollution, climate change, and endangered species in an immersive and impactful way. Through this creative and educational process, young people not only gained experience in environmental education but also produced a meaningful artistic output that raised awareness of ecological issues.
