How can we teach children the concepts of sustainability, equality, and global responsibility? The Global Thinking Foundation has come up with an original and fun answer: the “Learning sustainable economics with LEGO” project, part of the Young612 educational programme.
The initiative is designed for children aged 5 to 8 – but is also suitable for lower secondary school – and uses the famous LEGO bricks to transform complex topics into an engaging game. The project consists of four stop-motion videos, which explain the principles of the United Nations 2030 Agenda in a simple way. The project is complemented by an updated 2025 operating manual, full of practical worksheets for teachers and families, who can thus guide children in creative and collaborative activities.
This is not just an educational programme, but a participatory experience: participating schools and classes can submit their work and take part in a national competition, with prizes for technological and educational innovation.
The project has a dual objective: to educate about sustainability in an accessible and fun way and to actively involve the younger generation so that they become protagonists of change. Teachers also receive training support to integrate the content into their own programme, making the experience interdisciplinary and inclusive.
📢 Why participate?
Because talking about sustainability from an early age means sowing awareness, collaboration and a sense of community. And because learning while having fun, building with your own hands, is the best way to remember and apply what you have learned.
