GreenComp café - Assessment tools

Once again, we are organising a GreenComp café to engage together on the European sustainability competence framework!

This café will resume our monthly meetings. Today, we will discuss about assessment tools. Maria Vallejo will present the Eduquem+B project, focusing on the mainstreaming of sustainability in educational institutions, and the "Be Ready for Now" screening self-assessment tool. 

The "Be Ready for Now" screening self-assessment is a tool free and available in Catalan, Spanish and English. it measures sustainability competences among young people aged 16 and 24 studying in high schools, vocational training centers and universities in Barcelona Metropolitan Area. 

Based on the GreenComp framework by the European Commission, the assessment consists of 48 questions designed to evaluate the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to cultivate a mindset and actions geared towards sustainability. With a duration of 20 to 25 minutes, the self-assessment encourages students to reflect on their ability to act responsibly and empathetically in addressing current environmental and social challenges.

It will be implemented in educational institutions across Barcelona until June 2025, with the goal of collecting essential data for research purposes. Once this phase is complete, a report will be prepared, and an open-data web platform will be created, enabling all city stakeholders to access and use this important diagnostic tool. Furthermore, the performance of the assessment will be evaluated at the end of the first phase, and necessary improvements will be made to ensure it remains an effective tool for measuring and fostering sustainability competencies among young people.
