Let's map the existing assessment tools building on the GreenComp framework.

Based on our last GreenComp café, I would like to open this idea of mapping existing assessment tools based on the GreenComp framework.

The idea is  to comment here below and share assessment tools that you are working on or are aware of. These tools may address both learners and educators; there is no limit to the tools you can share as the main goal is to gather information about the existing efforts and find synergies.
From September, we will meet in GreenComp café and share more insights.

Please like and vote if you are intersted in knowling more; and follow the content to receive notifications.

Dear Valeria, I asked a point of view to ChatGPT ... here it is its answer to the prompt.

[...]considering the framework's four main areas of competence:

1. **Embodying Values**: Embracing environmental values and attitudes.
2. **Taking Action**: Engaging in responsible actions for sustainability.
3. **Thinking Critically**: Reflecting on and assessing environmental information and its implications.
4. **Envisioning the Future**: Imagining sustainable futures and pathways to achieve them.

Below are some existing assessment tools that can be aligned with these competencies:

### Embodying Values
1. **Values Questionnaire**: A tool to assess personal values related to environmental attitudes.
- Example: **Schwartz Value Survey** - Measures a range of human values, including those relevant to environmentalism.

2. **New Ecological Paradigm (NEP) Scale**: Evaluates environmental worldviews and attitudes.

### Taking Action
1. **Pro-Environmental Behavior Scale**: Assesses the frequency and types of behaviors individuals engage in to support environmental sustainability.
- Example: **General Ecological Behavior (GEB) scale** - Measures ecological behaviors across different contexts.

2. **Environmental Action Scale**: Evaluates proactive engagement in environmental activities.

### Thinking Critically
1. **Critical Thinking Assessment Test (CAT)**: Measures critical thinking skills that can be applied to environmental issues.
- Example: **Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal** - Assesses critical thinking and reasoning skills.

2. **Environmental Literacy Test**: Assesses understanding of environmental concepts and ability to evaluate environmental information critically.
- Example: **Middle School Environmental Literacy Instrument (MSELI)** - Measures middle school students' environmental literacy, including knowledge, skills, and affect.

### Envisioning the Future
1. **Future Problem Solving Program (FPSP)**: Assesses the ability to envision and plan for sustainable futures.
- Example: **Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking (TTCT)** - Measures creative thinking and problem-solving skills, including those related to envisioning future scenarios.

2. **Scenario Planning Exercises**: Tools to evaluate the capacity to develop and assess potential future scenarios for sustainability.

### Comprehensive Tools
1. **Green Attitudes and Actions Assessment (GAAA)**: A tool designed to measure a range of green attitudes and actions comprehensively.

2. **Sustainability Literacy Test (Sulitest)**: Evaluates knowledge and understanding of sustainability, covering multiple aspects of the GreenComp framework.

### Educational and Organizational Assessments
1. **Eco-Schools Assessment**: Evaluates the implementation of sustainable practices and education in schools.
- Example: **Eco-Schools Global** - A framework and assessment tool used globally to encourage schools to implement sustainable practices.

2. **Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards**: Used by organizations to report their sustainability performance, aligning with comprehensive sustainability competencies.

When selecting and implementing these tools, it is crucial to ensure they are appropriately adapted to the context and specific goals of the assessment. Integrating these tools within an educational or organizational setting can help to comprehensively assess and develop the competencies outlined in the GreenComp framework. 😊

Thank you, Valeria, for getting us focused on this important topic and, to you Marco, for providing this amazing list. My own organization appears above so if anyone should want more information about Sulitest TASK (The Assessment of Sustainability Knowledge), let me know. Designed for higher education, and launched in March 2023, TASK is an online, 112-item, psychometric assessment of sustainability knowledge on 28 thematic subjects across four discrete types of knowledge. Delivered to students via their home institution, TASK provides a detailed score, certificate, and robust cohort data across all knowledge domains. To date, it has been taken by about 17,500+ students across the globe. See the Sulitest website for more information. Reach out any time. 🙂
