The eTwinning project "The World around Us" is an initiative that brings together students from across Europe to explore environmental sustainability and active citizenship. Our work is based on several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from the 2030 Agenda. We aim to inspire and be inspired by illustrating education innovation in the field.

The project involved students from Italy, Greece, Poland and France in collaborative learning activities. The project had four main phases:

  • "World around Us": Focused on cultural heritage.
  • "Wildlife around Us": Raised environmental awareness.
  • "Nature around Us": Included nature-themed activities and celebrated World Water Day.
  • "Recycling around Us": Included a logo contest and Earth Day celebration.

Students used innovative apps and computers to create digital products, which helped them develop important digital skills.

The project had a big impact on the students. They improved their English and communication skills, and they deepened their cultural and environmental awareness. They also developed a stronger sense of active citizenship and a global outlook

For teachers, the project led to collaboration within our school and with partner schools. We integrated civic education into subjects like English, Art, Geography, D&T and Science, which improved our teaching practices.

Our project covers three Education for Climate innovation areas:

  • Raising awareness
  • Developing green skills and competences
  • Changing behaviors

Students learned to critically reflect on environmental issues and take responsibility for sustainable actions.
