A new calculator is available for free in French and English.
The team of Carbon 4 behind this tool has taken into account national data for over 100 countries, enabling them to illustrate the impact of various things such as of electric cars in France, Germany, Poland for example.
With this tool, you can put your entire lifestyle directly under the “carbon thermometer”. It takes a certain amount of courage, and also time, to go through this exercise and see your impact in terms of CO2 emissions.
It's a useful and educational exercise that can takes place in the classroom or at home, that encourages students to compare and discuss their lifestyles, involving their parents where appropriate.
I went through the calculator. I like that it goes into a lot of detail and includes locations from all over the world. Also, I appreciate that it contextualizes the criteria and that it helps users understand where the numbers come from. It is particularly useful for us as we are starting a new Erasmus + project on this topic - carbon accounting and carbon footprint reduction (the extension of the Clicks On project carried out two years ago). The project has its calculator, designed for educational purposes, but it's always good to have external sources for comparison. By the way, our joining the Clicks On consortium as partners was also made possible by the E4C.🙂
This is a very nice comment dear Ada, important for us, as it shows how a community has concrete and direct impact on how people work together. Susanne SZKOLA Frederic WILLIQUET Valeria NAPOLI
Btw, I guess you also know this other calculator developped by our colleagues from the JRC: https://eplca.jrc.ec.europa.eu/ConsumerFootprint.html
