The Carbon Act project has launched a new catalogue featuring 23 ready-to-use Learning Scenarios, making it easier for teachers to introduce climate change topics into their classrooms. Created by teachers for teachers, these scenarios provide practical tools to help students understand climate change and take meaningful action.

Making Climate Education Accessible

These Learning Scenarios use Inquiry-Based Science Education (IBSE) and Project-Based Learning (PBL) to create engaging, hands-on lessons for students aged 7 to 19. They cover a broad range of topics and are organised into four themes: Climate Science, Ecosystems and Biodiversity, Resilience-Building, and Sustainable Lifestyles. Each scenario includes activities and resources that encourage students to think critically, foster meaningful learning, and take action on climate issues.

Built by Teachers, Tested in Classrooms

Teachers from across Europe collaborated in national workshops to develop these Learning Scenarios, ensuring they align with curriculum requirements and address real-world climate challenges. Other teachers tested the materials in classrooms, ensuring their educational value and impact.

Teachers who piloted these scenarios reported increased student engagement, a better understanding of climate issues, and stronger motivation among students to contribute to a sustainable future.

A Resource for Teachers Everywhere

These Learning Scenarios are flexible and easy to adapt, making it simple for teachers to fit them into various subjects.

The catalogue is available here, and the full version of the Learning Scenarios, along with additional materials, can be found on the Carbon Act project website on Scientix.

About Carbon Act

The Carbon Act project empowers teachers across Europe to integrate climate change education into their classrooms. The project is organised into three key phases: a foundational phase focused on research and curriculum development, a piloting phase for creating Learning Scenarios and a MOOC, and a large-scale deployment phase featuring the MOOC launch, expert interviews, a competition, and a report on best practices.
