"To date 40 countries have stepped up to support climate education in their climate goals – Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). The Paris Agreement requests that each country outlines their post-2020 climate actions every five years. These actions are essentially what an NDC is. The Minister of Climate of Brazil, the host of the next COP climate conference has called all governments to integrate climate and environmental education in the 2025 NDCs update."

What is your position?
What role could our community play in helping to bring about a political decision on this issue?
Great idea but we need much more from Governments in their NDCs to support the energy transition for education communities. A few more ideas would be:
1. Technical support and training for energy communities to fund and install renewable energy on educational buildings. Energy communities can fund, install and operate solar pv, and heat pumps for school buildings, lower energy costs, lowering carbon and acting as leaders in their communities. Energy communities can also fund thermal imaging cameras to identify heat loss sources that can then be addressed with better insulation for educational buildings. Governments can also remove petty bureaucratic systems that block and delay progress.
2. Support the development of citizen science projects to tackle personal carbon pollution (climate change mitigation) and encourage students, teaching and support staff to all lower the 30% of carbon they can effect through the decisions they take to heat and power where they live and in the transport decisions they take.
3. Recognise and support the development of the AURORA Energy Tracker app and share the results as citizens use it to mov e towards near zero carbon emissions in Europe. See https://www.aurora-h2020.eu/aurora/ourapp/. Outside Europe they could fund the further development of the app to make it suitable for use in countries in the global south. A road map will shortly be released by the AURORA project to show how this can be done.
