This project is configured as a tool to promote the development of key skills of students, the exchange of educational experiences, teamwork, the creation of professional networks, project work or other active methodologies and Innovative initiatives that ultimately lead to a change in environmental behavior with our environment and that affect daily educational practice

There are many previous experiences that advocate the usefulness of this resource in educational centers.

The school garden is an main educational resource to reinforce curricular contents and to transmit to students the importance of productive techniques with food, in relation to natural cycles and respect for the environment. Sowing and planting vegetables and fruit trees has value in itself and helps to understand the multitude of rhythms that dominate nature, the dependence that human beings have on it and the increasingly pronounced asynchrony that exists between both.

This is a project our school started with the Andalusian Government (Andalusia is a Spanish community) and, of course, with the local one.

The idea is to show how schools can work with the town and it's much easier than we think. Just talk with the local administration and introduce your project (they can help your school a lot).

It's very important to disseminate what you are doing (local media, school facebook or radio ... parents!!!.

I'd like to go on sharing what we are going to do next school year!!!

That is a wonderful idea, and by involving public institutions/decision makers it gains extra impact. We have started a similar one, but on a smaller scale this year by creating a flower garden around our school.Students were the ones who did the research to see which species fit the soil/climate patterns and the planting. It was amazing to see them so fully engaged and connected to nature. And we planted some fruit trees as well, fingers crossed we will enjoy a nice crop in autumn :)

No problem for the size of the eco-garden. In fact, this year, a group of teachers at my school want to retrieve a project that was carried out a few years ago, just before the confinement we suffered due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
It was to make "closed ecosystems" by using jars or bottles.
I will try to upload the document that was made. It is a Power Point and I do not know how to attach it to the platform. Maybe I can transform it into a video and share the link
We will start this activity in November or December. I "launch the challenge"!!!

And your students can also enjoy making closed plant ecosystems by using jars or bottles. Some of the ones we did three years ago are still alive and very very beautiful!!! It's a nice activity not only for Biology but also for Language (mother language) or English or other foreign language, so that students have to explain (and write) all the process. There is a short video (one student group's work) in community exchanges - what is the community discussing? Let's make a closed plant ecosystem
