The General Assembly of the EU’s Children Participation Platform takes places on 26 & 27 June 2023.

On Tuesday 27 June from 11:00-15:00 five different thematic workshops will be held in parallel.

Each workshop will follow the World Café method (a structured conversation in smaller groups to discuss sub-topics of an overall theme) encouraging participants to dive into topics, reflect and explore in smaller groups. The workshop participants will then exchange summaries of their discussions, before they prepare a presentation together to share in the session ‘Sharing our learning’ in the afternoon.

Children, together with their accompanying adults (either direct carers or representatives of civil society organisations) will be able to select the thematic session of their choice - and the EducationForClimate Coalition is part of this:

Children for a fairer and greener Europe

Children will get to know different ways of children’s inclusion in decision making processes to make a greener Europe. This workshop is about how to make our life greener with adapting healthier, more sustainable attitudes.

Looking forward to representing our community and connecting you!

It was an amazing day I was happy to be part of. So many young people and their parents wanting to contribute to a better tomorrow. So here are a few short insights to takeyou, the community, with me:

- A highlight:
"Coordinate common action days where we can team up with Institutions (like the EP for example)" The conciousness for political sponsorship and engagement needed to make a change was palpable, like a very transnational feeling in the room ("We don't care about languages - as long as we somehow understand each other and have fun").

- A main take-away:
"Let us have space & time for our ideas!" Facilitate learning activities, peer visits and local meet-ups to make friends for joint actions, but don't push us. Simple steps first, education key.

- A quote that portrays how the session went:
"If we want change tomorrow, we need to talk and do today. You don't need any pre-existing knowledge to play this [GreenComp] game to start making sense of what you want to do. "

- A few thoughts:
The ideas of doing something concrete together to make a difference around climate (education) resonates strongly with the EducationForClimate Coalition and its participatory challenges. Sharing good practices & co-developing materials around developing green competences and bridging science & policy with education are key, particularly resources for teachers and playful tools. We will certainly explore a link, since these action ideas voiced by children and parents alike during the workshop aligned 1:1 with the ones of our running community. So, looking forward to welcoming new members and engagement opportunities soon :-)
