This workshop is hosted by The Climate Academy in partnership with News Decoder, as part of the Empowering Youth through Environmental Storytelling project, co-funded by the European Union.
Why this workshop?
This interactive and collaborative training will help you explore how to bring climate change science and justice, biodiversity, systems and alternative economic thinking, as well as journalism into your classroom or educational space. You'll connect with like-minded educators from across Europe and leave with creative tools, new perspectives, and pedagogical resources ready to use in the classroom.
Who should apply?
We welcome applications from:
âś…Secondary school teachers (formal education)
✅Non-formal educators and facilitators working with young people aged 16–25
Applicants must reside in an EU Member State, or a country associated with Erasmus+: North Macedonia, Serbia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, or TĂĽrkiye.
Fluency in English is required, as the workshop will be conducted entirely in English.
What to expect
âś…Interactive sessions on climate science, justice, biodiversity, and transformative
solutions
âś…Hands-on workshops on journalism, communication, systems thinking, and
climate emotions
âś…Best practices from experienced educators across Europe
âś…Creative group work with a final journalistic project (podcast, video, or article)
âś…Evening social gatherings to connect with peers in a relaxed setting
You’ll also gain access to a variety of pedagogical resources on climate journalism,
biodiversity, and media literacy.
Costs & reimbursements
The Climate Academy will reimburse certain workshop-related costs. Lunch will be provided each day, and dinner on 14 & 15 October.
Participants will be reimbursed after the workshop, based on receipts:
🚆Travel (to/from Brussels + local transport): up to €333
🏨Accommodation (13/14–16 Oct): up to €300
Participants are responsible for covering costs upfront. Please discuss this with
your organisation in advance.
