Green Office students in action

Team feb/juli '23Climate action movements are mostly set up by highly educated people, our mission is to include all students in these movement no matter what their level of education is. In 2020 we founded the first Green Office in vocational education (MBO – ROC van Amsterdam) in the Netherlands. With a team of 15 students and 3 staff members, we are the green conscience of our school, which has over 4,000 staff members and 32,000 students.

We have an educational program that teaches staff and students about the Sustainable Development Goals using games, blended learning programs, and different workshops. Our biggest game-changer has been training students to teach from our educational program — our peer educators. We believe in amplifying the voices of our students.

Our Green Office students also advocate for policies, such as free menstrual products for students, trees being planted for every graduate, recycling our waste, and reducing unnecessary data. Furthermore, we regularly organize awareness campaigns and events ranging from supporting LGBTQIA+ communities to promoting climate-friendly diets. On top of that, we also showcase all the fantastic changes our teachers have made in our courses in our documentary series 'Local Heroes'.

We work closely together with the Green Offices from the local universities to collaborate on projects (like the sustainable career event and global goals jam) and have a strong support network.
