"Tap Water is ecological
Drinking tap water is not only cheap, but also beneficial for the environment: less bottled water would mean more help in personal savings and with a positive impact on the environment by reducing CO2 emissions and plastic waste."
In view of all the environmental problems that underlie the excessive production of waste, and in particular plastic waste, it is considered urgent to promote the consumption of tap water in our territory. This is a healthy and natural option that can meet most of the citizens' needs.
Seeking to actively intervene in promoting the consumption of tap water in our territory and mitigating the effects of climate change - goal 13 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - we intend to develop a widespread awareness campaign for citizens to choose to consume tap water instead of bottled water, the adherence of different entities to our movement, so that they start providing tap water to their customers and employees, and the creation of media to publicize the entities that choose to exclusively consume tap water.
STRATEGIC AXES
1. Tap water in Vila Nova de Famalicão is safe and has excellent quality.
2. Bottled water consumption and its impact on waste production.
STRATEGIC GOALS
1. Deconstruct myths that have called into question the safety of tap water consumption.
2. Encourage people, entities and companies to consume tap water instead of bottled water through outreach awareness campaigns with differentiated target audiences.
3. Strive for students to demonstrate responsibility in their own behavior and encourage their circles of family and friends to adopt a more responsible practice from an environmental and sustainability standpoint.
4. To raise community awareness of the impact on resource use and pollution caused by bottled water consumption.
5. Seek a decisive contribution to climate change mitigation.
6. Foster and encourage a multilateralism that allows progress towards a more equitable, inclusive and sustainable world.
Dissemination media were created on the impacts of bottled water consumption and the effects of changing behavior and habits in mitigating climate change, and a logo and slogan of the project were defined.
A wide dissemination was made to the whole community: social networks of the school group, the school's European Journal and Camilo em Ação Magazine, in the local media and the municipality's collaboration in the dissemination.

Thank you for sharing.
Drinking tap water might be the simplest solution to plastic pollution. In addition to (ocean) plastic pollution, bottled water also has an enormous carbon footprint from production and transportation. And the problem is getting worse as bottled water consumption is growing, all while households may already have access to a clear and present solution – their tap!!!! ?
The Spanish Ministry of Health is responsible for the quality of the tap water in Spain. According to them 99.5% of all public tap water in Spain is potable (safe to drink) but this doesn’t necessarily mean that it tastes good.
Many Spaniards usually drink bottled water instead of tap as it tastes better. This is due to the higher levels of chlorine, sediment and minerals that it contains.
A more environmental and cost-effective approach would be to use a water filter which could save us hundreds of euros a year and.... it's BENEFICIAL FOR OUR PLANET!!!!???
