Why organising a hackathon with preschool?

What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is an event, hosted by a group or an organisation, where participants get together for a short period of time to collaborate on a project and to find solutions to problems.

Why organising a hackathon with preschool?

The children will solve a problem that’s presented as a challenge. They will come up with solutions they found as a group following a defined process.

The child:

  • co-operates to express her/his own ideas and defend them, to help, to listen to others, to play agreed roles;
  • takes part in a collective project;
  • contributes to a democratic process;
  • copes with mistakes, criticism and possible failure, and is keen to be involved in the progress of the group in a positive way;
  • uses a variety of media to investigate or communicate;
  • integrates new ideas and explanations of the world;
  • identifies things made by humans or their influence on nature, the environment and earth, good and bad.

* Collective work enables a person to discover their place in society. Knows his/her own weak or good points compared to other individuals. * He knows his deficiencies or needs to be completed and fights within himself to be better. * This struggle helps himself in all social enterprises over time. * Hackathon studies in kindergarten complete the social and psychological development of students.
