(As a continuation of my previous post) Instead of wood, you can also work with clay which is a very powerful learning material, They can shape whatever plastic object. You can invite a local potter to do a workshop with children. Modeling with clay is relaxing and good for children's mental health. I also will show the children pictures of the houses made by the architect Anna Heringer and her amazing buildings like schools made with the land. Will be not better for our environment if our school was built with land instead of concrete?
Now it's time for the second part of the hackathon. We work with empathy and compassion first for ourselves and also for nature. Plastic damaged nature. Not only to produce it (some explanations also relating to the Ukrainian war and what is happening) but because plastic things need thousands of years to disappear. We discuss it. Can you imagine it? Much, much, much more from our grandsons will dye our plastic pile will remain! This is not connected with nature where all are born, grow and dye (like an apple tree) in a season. But plastic is not lñike this. And because of this and because is everywhere in very, very, very small pieces is poisoning us (through the air, water, the food we eat) or bigger ones. I show them pictures of the plastic island in the Pacific and some incredible photographs of the photographer Mandy Baker. So, ow it's time to find solutions to heal ourselves and nature from this plastic illness. What can we do? That's the moment we are.
