This TALK focuses on the relationship between the two transitions affecting our societies and affecting the training and education sector in particular: the green transition and the digital transition.

These two transitions are often presented as twin transitions, precisely because they have points in common and need to be tackled together by the education community. However, tensions may also exist, and it is on this point that a study by the European Commission, which will be published very shortly, focuses.

We need to reflect on these tensions in order to lighten the load as much as possible for educators, who need to find concrete ways of covering these two transitions and who need to be able to explore their common cross-cutting aspects as best they can.

To explore this very interesting subject, the TALKS on climate education were pleased to welcome Sarah DESCAMPS, research assistant in the department of educational engineering and digital education at the University of Mons (UMONS) and conceptor of EducoNetImpac, and Deirdre HODSON, European Commission policy officer working in the school education policy team, coordinator of the European Commission's working group on learning for sustainability.

Questions

03:15 The EC is interested to understand better connections between digital and green agendas in education, in order to increase policy impact. A new report on this topic is coming, can you share with us the main outcomes and recommendations?

07:45 Sarah Descamps, you are working on the environmental impact of technology and on a more responsible use of digital technology. Can you tell us more and share with us what we can learn from your research/how it resonates with the report presented by Deirdre Hodson?

14:20 Let's try to look to the future and think about the challenges we face in terms of implementing policies on the issue at stake and how we can overcome them. Can you give us your views on what our priorities should be moving forward?
