Dra. Silvia M. Velázquez Rodríguez is working at the Spanish education ministry. Scientist by training, with a PhD in chemistry, she published several scientific but also pedagogical papers and has a keen interest in educational innovation.
She is currently technical counsellor of the Subdirectorate General of Territorial Cooperation and Educational Innovation of the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports of Spain. She also represents Spain in the Working group of the European Commission on Schools/Learning for sustainability.
In this TALK, she shares with us the main achievements of the Spanish education ministry regarding education for sustainable development (ESD).
The development of ESD has progressed rapidly in recent years in Spain, facilitated by an ambitious regulatory framework that facilitates its dissemination at all levels of public education and reinforces teacher training.
