Call for Articles:  Special issue of Geoscience Communication

Tentative title:  Climate and ocean education: Practice, ethics and urgency

The term climate education (literacy), for the purpose of this special issue, is deemed to englobe any activity, object, institution, movement, person, group, publication or idea that that intends in some way to enlighten, educate, influence or inform people and organisations about climate change and the perils that such change inflicts upon the natural, social, economic, ethical, ecological, psychological, governance and policy world of which humans are a part on planet Earth.  This applies mutatis mutandis to ocean education (literacy).

Education empowers all people, but especially motivates the young to take action. It can encourage people to change their attitudes and behavior. In the classroom, young people can be taught the impact of global warming and learn how to adapt to climate change.
