Women and girls play a vital role in scientific and technological communities and their participation must be strengthened.

The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 11 February as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. This promotes gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls as well as their full and equal participation in science.INTERNATIONAL DAY of WOMEN & GIRLS in SCIENCE

It is important to make the work of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) areas more visible, in order to create female role models for children who can contribute to their choice of these areas as professional careers. At the same time, practices that are conducive to achieving gender equality in science should be encouraged.

To commemorate this day, two science teachers from Santo Domingo Savio School have created a special periodic table with the names of female scientists. The aim of this project is to pay tribute to a large number of women who have made important contributions in the field of science and who are unfortunately little known.INTERNATIONAL DAY of WOMEN & GIRLS in SCIENCE
