Welcome to the Lifelong Learning Lab

Happening during the Policy Forum 2023!

As students, teachers as well as practitioners, scientists, and policymakers, we know that sustainability education and green competences are crucial for building a sustainable future. However, the landscape of sustainability is constantly changing, and we need to stay ahead of the curve to prepare ourselves and our communities for the challenges ahead.

So, when we think about lifelong learning:

1. What does this change mean for education policy? How do we need to address or re-dress policy for this shift towards a more sustainable future?

2. And what about education practice? What are the good practices out there that can help us address this change and prepare ourselves and our communities for a sustainable future?

3. Lastly, collaboration is key. What are the next steps that we need to take together on both sides to ensure that we are moving towards a more sustainable future?

Let's explore these questions and more in the Lifelong Learning Lab.

What are your thoughts on this?

What did we learn together?
There's need to:
1. equip learners with sustainable competencies and engage all students and teachers to build a community on these issues.
2. transform education and learning environments and overcoming generational gaps in attitudes towards climate change.
3. establish a systemic and integrated disciplinary approach at all stages of learning for sustainability.
4. strengthen the role of teachers is in this process, as schools can interact with parents and the community as agents of change likewise.
5. decentralize of policymaking processes from governmental institutions to teachers is necessary in key areas.
6. train teachers and equip them with green competence assessment tools.

What's missing from this summary? What actions are you now up to? What materials, experiences, good practices, referrals could you share with others`?
Let's bring it together here!
