What is this about?

Generation Climate Europe (GCE) is building up a whole new Working Group on Education and Skills! We'll be focusing on two projects: (1) Sustainable Organisations and bringing the GreenComp into more youth organisations, and (2) Education for Sustainable Development, more advocacy focused, with the connect young people better with decision makers.

Who is GCE?

GCE is the largest coalition of youth-led networks on climate and environmental issues at the European level. GCE unites the largest youth-led networks, bringing together 381 national organisations across 46 countries in Europe and creates a platform for the youth to advocate for a just and green transition in Europe. GCE envisions a system that respects human rights and the planet, that includes the voice of youth and acknowledges our common, but differentiated responsibility in achieving a carbon-neutral and sustainable world.

Why here?

This "Education for Climate Coalition"-platform is unique in its ability to connect different actors working on various perspectives towards transforming our education systems. Thus, I'd like to explore if there are young people (18-30 years) with some time on their hands who are passionate about advocacy for education for sustainable development and/or for bringing the GreenComp more into youth organisations.

What are the open roles?

We are looking for:

  • two education & skills working group coordinators: they oversee the new working group, you'll be the link between your team and the GCE board and other coordinators, during my time in this role I got the chance to speak on many panels and represent GCE at various events.
  • a project lead and a project officer for the Sustainable Organisation project. If you like informal education, advising organisations on implementing the GreenComp, connecting stakeholders etc., this is for you. The difference in roles is just the time commitment.
  • a project lead and project officer for the Education for Sustainable Development project. If you are an outspoken youth advocate and enjoy organising dialogues and events, this is for you.

I worked at GCE for 2 years now (it was founded in 2019) and am truly amazed by what we have built and how much people grew in their time there. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out to me!
