Community Bulletin April 2022

Dear Education for Climate community,

There's unfortunately no shortage of global urgencies these days.

As the latest IPCC report outlines, it's now or never if we want to limit global warming to 1.5°C. Without immediate and deep emissions reductions across all sectors and regions, it will be impossible. And without these urgent and immediate actions, median global warming is projected to rise to 3.2°C by 2100.

Our common opportunity in this community: to make a difference and act together to design and drive the changes needed for education for environmental sustainability.

Via participatory challenges – our co-innovation labs (‘experimentariums’) around concrete education actions for raising awareness, developing green skills/competences, bridging education/science, training teachers, and changing behaviours.

We are already more than 2200 community members from across Europe, so let's do it together!

On that note: since we are already so many and since we aspire the community to be a safe place for everybody, please fill in your profile as well as you can so that the other community members understand better with whom they interact. It also helps us immensely to connect you with the people, groups, ideas, resources and events that we offer.

Not sure how to fill in your profile once you logged in? Have a look at step 1 in this guide.

So, what's going on and coming up?

SAVE THE DATE & REGISTER

The first Education for Climate Policy and Practice Forum is happening on 5 May 2022, 10:00 – 12:30 CET.

This forum offers exchange- and action-driven meetings between education policy and practice. Join a high-level panel on “How to concretely equip learners with the necessary skills for the green transition?” followed by 4 co-design dialogues on sustainability competences, transforming places of learning, learning actions for sustainable tree planting, and making saving water a lifelong habit!

  • Want to share this event and explain to your peers what the Education for Climate Coalition is all about? We got you covered with a short video and a new flyer (soon in all EU languages)!

JOIN THE CHALLENGES

You can join our participatory challenges at any of their phases, so make sure to have a look what our community members are currently working on together and engage in:

How to run a hackathon in pre-school?

How to make saving water a lifelong habit?

Upcoming: sustainable tree planting and sustainability knowledge, skills, and attitudes!

STAY TUNED

We are also working closely with the first National Coordinators and will be happy to announce soon the first openings of Education for Climate National Coalitions to engage in EU national languages and connect locally.

Want to get involved? Fill in your profile (see above) so that we can recognize you and join the Coordinators’ group & check the topics – if your country is not yet there, start it! We do our best to bring coordinators together from there.

Looking forward to our common activities!
