The Awardees Are Known!

We are very happy to announce that we have concluded the selection process for the EducationForClimate's call for innovative green education actions! 

Believe us, it was really difficult to find the little differences in the so many inspiring projects we received (95 high-quality ones!), letting shine through all your driving ambitions for participatory climate education. 

 

Congratulations to all of you!

The selected projects will join us live on the online stage during the EducationForClimate Day 2024 on the 28th of November 2024 in sessions running from 14:00 to 17:00 CET .

Learners' Access to and Educators' Use of Science-Driven Climate Education

Leveraging scientific knowledge to create equitable and effective climate education practices in teaching methods and learning applications.

  1. CleanAir@School, a citizen-science project for green competences in Romania

  2. Supporting green action in schools and communities by inspiring and empowering teachers

  3. Cultivating Conditions for Change: the evolution of Climate Smart

Methodology 

  1. Screening of projects according to communicated and pre-set criteria (see underneath), each asked for in EU Survey specifically. Exclusion from next step if not met (true: outside EEA / platform blog missing/ not submitted in English at all). 

  2. Weighting: 10 points each for AMBITION, MULTIDISCIPLINARITY, PARTICIPATORY APPROACH, TANGIBILITY, e.g., project scoring out of 40, & 12 points each for COMMUNITY (impact beyond classroom). Averaged point ranking aggregated from multiple evaluators for all projects.  

  3. Final ranking and selection according to highest aggregated points received out of 52.  

What is this all about?

  • We launched an open call for innovative green education actions from the 12th of June to the 22nd of September 2024.

  • We received 95 high-quality submissions across learning levels and approaches!

  • Our aim was: (1) to learn from the community what their green education actions are to highlight the state of art in European initiatives in community showcases; (2) to illustrate education innovation in the field and engage with the green learning actions to inspire and get inspired; (3) build-up a participatory green learning examples collection on the community platform. 

  • Our communicated submission evaluation criteria were: (1) main project base in any EEA Member State, (2) complete project description & concrete actions having happened within last 5 years; (3) participatory project design & management; (4) covers at least 1/5 Education for Climate innovation areas; (5) addresses at least 1/12 GreenComp competences; (6) includes one of the innovative learning and teaching methods listed in the Council recommendation on learning for the green transition and sustainable development; (7) tangible project evidence/content.

  • From all the replies received (both EU survey & platform blog), 3 community examples per domain were selected, with notification about the selection outcome in the middle of October. 

  • The selected projects will join us live on stage on the 28th of November 2024 between 14:00 and 17:00 CET in English.

I am so happy and honored that CleanAir@School in Romania was selected for the science-driven projects section! I look forward to sharing this amazing learning experience with my peers and finding out more about the other innovative initiatives. All this would not have been possible without this community of practice that brought us together.

We are very happy and honoured that Science on Stage has been selected as one of the winning projects! It's important to share innovative climate education projects among European teachers, let's collaborate and learn from each other. We look forward to the event in Brussels.
