Call for innovative green education actions - Boosting Green Competences

Like last year, the Education for Climate Coalition has launched a call for innovative green education actions open from 12 June to 10 September. The focus is on boosting green competences and education transformation in 3 areas: lifelong learning, social economy and digital innovation.

That call will shed light on your projects and help sharing good practices, not to mention the prizes for the winners.

Enter your project to inspire and browse the inspiration provided by others.

New European Bauhaus (NEB) 2023 Awards Ceremony

The NEB Prizes recognise and reward existing projects, young people’s concepts, and initiatives focusing on education and learning (the thematic focus of 2023 edition) which demonstrate that the sustainable solutions promoted by the European Green Deal can also be inclusive and beautiful, bringing high-quality experiences to people's everyday lives.

During the event, you will get to know the 61 finalists and celebrate the winners of the 15 NEB Prizes.

The event will take place on 22 June from 15:30 to 18:00 CET.

Youth Lab - what are unsustainable fashion trends?

Last month, we hosted the first meeting of the Youth Climate LAB on sustainable fashion, defining what “unsustainable fashion trends" means to us. As the discussion unfolds, this week (15 June) we will meet again to explore which individual and collective changes we would suggest and what, as young citizens, the most efficient methods are to positively influence the fashion industry.

Are you interested in discovering the outcome of the first meeting? Don’t hesitate to comment and help us!

GreenComp Community

GreenComp Café – Let’s play together

This third community café will take place on 28 June (14:30 to 15:45 CEST) and will be the occasion to play a discussion game on SDGs and the GreenComp competences.

We had the chance to play that game with an Italian classroom in Brussels and with the 2022 winners of our call on innovative green education projects when they visited us in Ispra (Italy): check the round 1 of the game and the round 2.

Obviously, the GreenComp café is also a time to connect with other community members and ask questions related to the GreenComp community and green competences and many more!

Don’t hesitate to leave a comment on the event’s page if you want to suggest an agenda point.

On Foundation for environmental education (FEE) actions to update education systems - ft. Pramod Kumar Sharma

What about listening to the Senior Director of Education at the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) to learn about the activities of this non-governmental organisation and get inspired by someone who has worked 23 years on sustainable education - and who reached the conclusion that it can have a strong impact on quality education?

GreenComp and learning outcomes framework CALOHEE

This paper is the initial report of CALOHEE2 originated from CALOHEE (Comparing Achievements of Learning Outcomes in Higher Education in Europe). It tackles the issue of inclusion of GreenComp in leaning outcome frameworks with examples for 5 subject areas (History, Civil Engineering, Physics, Nursing and Teacher Education). It is certainly worth a read.

Green Erasmus Conference

The Green Erasmus conference will take place in person on the 16th of June 2023 to discuss the solutions and challenges to make the Erasmus+ Programme green. It will focus on the educational dimension of learning mobilities, discussing how Higher Education Institutions, National Agencies and European institutions can better enshrine sustainability in the learning experience of students taking part in Erasmus+. Education for Climate will be present, and we will let you know the outcomes after the conference.

Knowledge synthesis and analysis of measures for enhanced nature education

The Knowledge Centre for Biodiversity of the European Commission (Joint Research Centre) has put together a very interesting note about Education and Biodiversity on its website. It is a knowledge synthesis and analysis of measures for enhanced nature education highlighting the relevant EU policies, projects and initiatives. Very useful!
