Critical thinking involves assessing information and arguments, identifying assumptions, challenging the status quo, and reflecting on how personal, social, and cultural backgrounds influence thinking and conclusions.

Critical thinking is fundamental so that learners can cope with uncertainty, complexity, and change. It helps learners to evaluate and understand information regarding sustainability problems and allows them to challenge and change their values, perspectives and understanding of the world.
