In the spotlight 

EducationForClimate update: NEW country groups, NEW home page and other NEWS for a good start of the year!

We wish all our members an excellent New Year, and hope that this 2024 will be rich in green educational resolutions.

And to get the year off to a good start, we are delighted to welcome a number of new country to our community, adding to the EU member states the now full list of partner states in the European Education Area, including Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia and Türkiye.

A warm welcome to them all!

2024 Community Priorities: shaping our challenges in the coming year

Following the recent voting on the EducationForClimate Coalition's 2024 community priorities and after having consolidated the voting of community members with our Advisory Group, we are now glad to share with you the priorities that will shape our actions and challenges in the coming year.

All priorities are nicely aligned with our 5 co-defined overarching goals: teacher training, green competences, Youth, greening schools and climate resilience.

European Educational Leadership Network Week: EducationforClimate webinar - 16 February

The EducationForClimate Coalition will be present during the European Educational Leadership week.

We will propose a workshop under the title “Education for Climate Coalition: community co-creation for sustainability” involving community members to illustrate the diversity of the community and the possibilities it offers.

Community members recently met to brainstorm the GreenComp community’s activities for early 2024.

First Café in a series of two co-creation workshops that will support the validation of an evaluation rubric to help schools rank and select innovation projects based on the their compatibility with the GreenComp framework codeveloped by The Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the European Schools.

What is Cyprus doing on green education? ft. Aravella Zachariou

In Cyprus, education for sustainable development (ESD) is a main priority. It is embedded in a national strategy for sustainable development that sees sustainability as a cross-cutting issue.

Czech Republic has a long term plan (10 years) which is now reaching its second implementation part with sustainable education being tackled as a cross-cutting topic.
