The Education for Climate Coalition aims to steer, drive, co-design and co-implement with you the ambitious vision and mission as laid out in the co-designed community manifesto.

As laid down in its co-designed community manifesto, the Education for Climate Coalition aims to inspire, develop and draw on innovative European education capabilities.

As a community, it decides collectively, acts collaboratively and adapts sustainably. Its main focuses are to:

  • train teachers
  • bridge education with science
  • develop green skills and competences
  • raise awareness
  • change behaviours.

In addition to these five focus areas, the community works around an annual theme that changes each year and is aligned with EU policy priorities. The focus areas remain the same, but each year's theme helps shape the specific areas of focus within them. This process is coordinated by the Secretariat with the support of community leaders.

To support these priorities and the annual community theme, the Education for Climate Coalition aspires to:

The Education for Climate community managers:

  • moderate and make sure that community interactions and conversations take place in a safe place
  • create and assign participatory challenges based on converging community conversations based on the participatory challenge flow
  • convert challenge output into knowledge library content based on the co-validation process
  • ensure that the Advisory Group, National Coalition, Companion and Reviewer interactions are continuously and appropriately fed into the main platform engagement
  • support, facilitate and highlight participatory challenge and community events
  • curate the community newsletter, platform activity stream, featured content and dashboards
  • manage taxonomies and check their proper application – we will host update challenges from time to time to adapt the taxonomies to the community’s needs
  • assign praise and recognition tags where applicable
  • collect member feedback regularly
  • support helpdesk operations.

Ultimately, the Coalition’s aspiration is to embrace a participatory approach to facilitate the community as organically and sustainably as possible in order to follow up on our collective ambition to 'decide collectively, act collaboratively and adapt sustainably.'
